Artist:DOE
Song:So Good
Album:Clarity
If you were a fan of the family gospel group Forever JONES. you will want to check out this solo album by that group's lead singer Dominique "DOE" Jones. When I first saw Forever JONES, Dominique really caught my eye. She not only looks and sings great but she plays keyboards and writes her own songs. But she's a gospel artist. So she's good enough to be a big star. But gospel artists aren't usually promoted outside that market. And though I know DOE is her nickname, it's too generic to be a name for a recording artist. When most folks think of the word "DOE", It's either Bambi's mother or the song Do Re Mi from The Sound of Music. She should just use her full name. Dominique was born in Washington state but grew up singing in church in Shreveport, LA. Her dad Dewitt Jones III had success as a songwriter in the 90s. He and his wife formed Forever JONES with their five children. It wasn't a vocal group. They all play instruments and write songs. But Dominique was the lead singer and she really stood out. The 2010 album Get Ready on EMI Gospel was Grammy nominated. They left EMI Gospel after a second album. And after a 2013 self released album, Dominique left and that was the end of Forever JONES. Dominique met with record companies while working as a youth pastor in Dallas. Then gospel artist Jonathan McReynolds took an interest in Dominique and she appeared on his 2018 single Cycles. The song was a top 20 gospel hit and was Grammy nominated. And that led to Dominique getting a record deal with RCA Inspiration. McReynolds produced the 2022 album Clarity and wrote the songs with Dominique. It's available as a digital download. Here's the video for So Good by DOE.
