Gabriela Anders is an Argentine jazz singer who has lived in New York since she was a teen. She had success when her 1999 debut album Wanting was released by Warner Bros. Since then she has settled into the New York club scene and currently records for her own label. She was born Mar. 17, 1972 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her father is a jazz saxophonist. His father was a classical violinist. She started out studying classical guitar before studying piano at a conservatory in Buenos Aires. After graduating from high school, Gabriela moved to New York and studied at Hunter College with former CTI Records arranger and conductor Don Sebesky. After releasing a couple of albums on the Japanese label Samson under the name Beleza and appearing with Jill Andrews as part of the duo Salsa Peanuts, Gabriela sent a demo to Warner Bros. It got her a record deal and she recorded the 1998 album Wanting working with producers like Alain Mallet of Club D'Elf, George Duke and guitarist Paul Brown. Gabriela wrote most of the songs including Fire of Love. Brown produced that song which features a trumpet solo by Rick Braun and keyboards by Tim Heintz. R&B singer Eric Benet makes a guest appearance on the album. Gabriela toured with Duke. The 2002 album Gabriela was only released in Europe. Since leaving Warner Bros., Gabriela has recorded for Narada and JVC in Japan. But mostly she has recorded for her own label. She produces with her guitarist husband Wayne Krantz. Her latest album The Ring was released in 2020. She's popular with the Smooth Jazz crowd.
