Artist:Les Respectables
Song:On Fait C'qu'on Aime (We Want the Sunshine)
Album:QuadroSonic
The band Les Respectables were successful mostly in Quebec in the late 90s and the early 00s. They are from Quebec City with Sebastien Plante on lead vocals, Pascal Dufour on guitar, Stephane Dussault on bass and Stephane Beaudin on drums. They won a 1992 talent contest run by Montreal radio station CHOM-FM and they also reached the grand final of Yamaha Music's Sunfest held in Gimli, MB. After self releasing three albums, they signed with Les Disques Passeport for the 1999 album $=Bonheur. Their single L'Homme 7 Up got some airplay on Quebec radio and then 7 Up bought the rights to use the song in ads. For the 2002 album QuadroSonic, Les Respectables began a relationship with Big Sugar leader Gordie Johnson. That's a band most Canadian listeners have heard. They must have met him at an awards show. He produced Quadrosonic. Plante and Dufour wrote most of the songs. This album is available as a digital download. You'll notice they sing in English on On Fait C'qu'on Aime. So it made me wonder if Les Respectables ever thought of recording in English. That's exactly what they did on the 2009 album Sweet Mama. Johnson not only produced but co-wrote all the songs. Les Respectables last released an album in 2010. But they still perform live in Quebec. Here's the video for On Fait C'qu'on Aime by Les Respectables.
