Tim Presley started White Fence as a home recording project. When he started having success, he decided to turn White Fence into a touring band. Presley still records most of the instruments himself. Presley started out in hardcore punk bands like The Nerve Agents. Then he was lead singer and guitarist of the neo psychedelic band Darker My Love. He also joined The Fall in 2006. While still a member of Darker My Love, Presley recorded in his bedroom. Rather than use his name, Presley released a 2010 album as White Fence. He wanted the option of turning White Fence into a band if there was interest. After his 2011 album Growing Faith generated positive reviews, Presley turned White Fence into a band so the songs could be performed live. He also started working with Ty Segall mainly so he could record in Segall's studio. They have recorded a few albums together. For the 2014 album For the Recently Found Innocent, Presley signed with the larger Drag City label. As with the other White Fence albums, Presley played all the instruments except drums. Segall and Nick Murray from his live band played drums. Segall and his recording engineer Eric Bauer produced. Presley last recorded as White Fence in 2019. He has recorded with Segall and with Welsh musician Cate Le Bon as DRINKS. She's in the White Fence live band. I don't know if White Fence is still active. But Presley can revive it at any time and hire musicians to play live. Here's White Fence performing Sandra (When the Earth Dies) Live at the Moonlight Motel 2014. This video is not on YouTube.
