Artist:Maev
Song:The Last Days of Summer
Album:A Celtic Journey
Maev Ni Mhaolchatha was an original member of Celtic Woman. She recorded a few solo albums as Maev after she left Celtic Woman in 2007. She has recently returned to Celtic Woman as vocal director. She was born Jan. 26, 1975 in Dublin, Ireland. She sang as a child with her family. She started singing professionally after graduating from Trinity College with a law degree. In the 90s she was a member of the Irish chamber choir Anuna. They toured with Riverdance. After Anuna split up in 1998, Maev self released a couple of albums and toured until former Riverdance director David Downes formed Celtic Woman in 2004. Maev was a featured soloist. After 2005 maternity leave, Maev returned to Celtic Woman. She also released a couple of solo albums. The Last Days of Summer is from the 2006 CD A Celtic Journey. It is on Celtic Woman's label Manhattan/EMI and Downes was executive producer. So I guess it's an official Celtic Woman solo album. She records mostly traditional songs. The Last Days of Summer was arranged by Noel Kelehan who normally works with the Irish TV network RTE. It was produced by recording engineer Bill Somerville-Large. Maev left Celtic Woman in 2007. She recorded two more solo albums. I recommend them to Celtic Woman fans as she doesn't stray from the formula. Maev returned to Celtic Woman as a guest on a 2013 Christmas TV special. In 2018 she returned to Celtic Woman as vocal director. Here' Maev and Hayley Westenra performing The Last Days of Summer on a Celtic Woman TV show. There is no date on it.
