Artist:Jaci Velasquez
Song:Adore
Album:On My Knees: The Best of Jaci Velasquez/Christmas
I guess the best way to describe Jaci Velasquez is she is the CCM version of Christina Aguilera. The height of Jaci's success in CCM in the late 90s coincides with Christina's pop success. The 2000 single Adore was one of Jaci's biggest hits. She sings in English and Spanish. She was born Oct. 15, 1979 in Houston. Her father was a singing evangelist. She went on tour with him and she released a couple of albums and signed with Word's Myrrh label. Her debut album was released in 1996. Her music was an immediate hit in the CCM market. Jaci signed a separate deal with Sony Discos and released the Spanish language album Llegar A Ti in 1999. This album sold very well in the Latin market. She has continued to record in Spanish while releasing English albums. Adore is from the 2000 album Crystal Clear. It topped the CCM singles chart. I would describe the song as Adult Contemporary pop with religious overtones. The album was produced by veteran CCM producer Mark Heimmerman who produced Jaci's early albums. Adore was written by Brent Bourgeois and Chris Eaton. At the time Bourgeois was VP of A&R at Myrrh. Eaton is a veteran British CCM songwriter. You can get Adore on this comp. Word has paired it as a twofer with Jaci's 2001 Christmas album. Epic Records attempted to cross Jaci over to pop in the early 90s but that didn't work. Jaci left Word in 2005 and has recorded less frequently since then. Her latest album Trust/Conflo was released on Integrity in 2017. One CD is English and the second is Spanish. She co-hosts with Doug Griffin the syndicated radio show Family Friendly Morning Show. Jaci has done some acting mostly in religious films. She is married to Nic Gonzales of the band Salvador and they have two kids. Here's the video for Adore by Jaci Velasquez.
