AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Richard Gere

Artist:Richard Gere
Song:Razzle Dazzle
Album:Chicago: Music from the Miramax Motion Picture

I know what you're thinking. Richard Gere sings? Well he sings as Billy Flynn in the 2002 film musical Chicago. It's his only time singing to date and Razzle Dazzle is his big number. Gere has been a movie star since the 70s. He was born Aug. 31, 1949 in Philadelphia and he grew up in Syracuse, NY. He started out in repertory theater in the late 60s. He moved to New York in the mid 70s He was supposed to star in the 1974 film Lords of Flatbush. But he was replaced after he got into a fight with Sylvester Stallone. After notable appearances in Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977) and Days of Heaven (1978), the 1980 film American Gigolo and the 1981 film An Officer and a Gentleman cemented Gere as a movie star. After he made a bunch of unsuccessful films in the 80s, Gere rebounded with the 1990 film Pretty Woman. He continued to have success especially with the 1999 film Rinaway Bride which reunited him with his Pretty Woman co-star Julia Roberts. He was also named People Magazine's Sexiest Man of the Year. Then he won a Golden Globe for Chicago. Like I said, it's Gere's only singing appearance in a film. Then he appeared in the 2004 film Shall We Dance? where he did ballroom dancing. Since then Gere's career has been in decline. Gere claims that the studios have exiled him because of his politics regarding China. He still appears in independent films. Most recently he has appeared in the BBC series MotherFatherSon. It's his first starring role on TV. He hasn't made a film since 2017. Here's Richard Gere performing Razzle Dazzle in the 2002 film Chicago.
