Artist:Men Of Standard f/Warryn "Baby Dubb" Campbell
Song:Everybody
Album:Surrounded
Men Of Standard is an outstanding contemporary black gospel group. This 2006 CD Surrounded gave them a new start with Sony Urban Music. They started out as an offshoot of John P. Kee's V.I.P. Choir in Charlotte, NC. Isaac Carree and Lowell Pye were both members of that choir in the early 90s. Bryan Pierce is from New Orleans but moved to Greensboro and Michael Bacon is from Dallas. They signed with the Malaco label Muscle Shoals in 1996 and made several great albums working with producers like Donald Lawrence & J. Moss. Their sound is very comparable to smooth R & B like Blackstreet but Men Of Standard sing about God. But being on a smaller label like Malaco meant that their albums never got the wide distribution that the major labels get. In recent years Sony Urban Music has become more interested in gospel and bringing Tara Griggs Magee in from Verity Records ramped that interest up. Of course Warryn "Baby Dubb" Campbell is one of today's top producers. He's best known for his work with Mary Mary and is married to Erica Atkins of Mary Mary. He also has a production deal with Sony. After Michael Bacon left Men Of Standard in 2005, the group signed with Sony and Surrounded was their first CD. Campbell wrote most of the songs, some with Men Of Standard. He wrote Everybody with Mary Mary and Baby Dubb even contributed a rap on the song. It's very slick music as one would expect but any fan of black gospel or long time fans of Men Of Standard won't be disappointed. Men Of Standard continue to work together. Each member has his own individual ministry and Isaac Carree has been working with Kirk Franklin for the last couple of years. I expect more great music from Men Of Standard. Here's the Electronic Press Kit for Surrounded by Men Of Standard.
