Marvin Sapp is a gospel singer from Grand Rapids, MI. He first surfaced in the popular group Comissioned as a replacement for Keith Staten. Comissioned disbanded in 1996 and Sapp signed with Word for their Myrrh label. This 1997 CD Grace And Mercy was his second of three CDs for Word. Not The Time, Not The Place was written and produced by Percy Bady, a producer Sapp has used frequently over the years. He recorded a fourth CD for Word called I Believe but when he was told that he was being dropped from the label, he purchased the master and took it to Verity and now records for them. His most recent CD is 2005's Be Exalted. Marvin Sapp has his own church in Grand Rapids and he also travels to local churches to perform and preach. Most of his CDs are live recordings that are usually taped for home video release. That's not unusual in the gospel music business. Marvin Sapp is a very talented singer so check out his performance of Glory To The Lamb from his 2003 CD Diary Of A Psalmist. It was written and produced by Kevin Bond. He's the pianist in the video.
