Artist:Todd Clouser's A Love Electric
Song:Needle and the Damage Done
Album:20th Century Folk Selections
Jazz guitarist Todd Clouser can play all kinds of music. But he seems to prefer the kind of experimental music he has recorded with his band A Love Electric since 2010. He was born Feb. 17, 1981 in Minneapolis. He attended Berklee in Boston and toured with the rock band 4 Letter Men. Then he moved to Baja, Mexico in 2006. He currently lives in Mexico City. He released his debut album Baja in 2007 on his own label. The music was a mix of experimental jazz and rock. He followed this up with the 2008 album Beatnik Highway. This album caught the ear of trumpeter Steven Bernstein and he went to Mexico City to work with Clouser. Bernstein appeared on Clouser's 2010 album A Love Electric. They decided to start a band called A Love Electric and played New York clubs. Bernstein wasn't able to commit to the band full time but he does appear on the 2012 album 20th Century Folk Selections on Royal Potato Family Records. The album is jazz covers of songs like Neil Young's The Needle and the Damage Done. Musicians are Adam Meckler on trumpet, Mark Aanderud on piano and Herman Hecht on drums. Hecht is a native of Mexico. Rick Parker plays trombone on The Needle and the Damage Done. A Love Electric has recorded five albums. The latest was released in 2016 on Ropeadope Records. Last year Clouser released the album The Mexico City Experiment recorded with Mexican musicians. Clouser is a member of the neo psychedelic band Magnet Animals. Here's the video for The Needle and the Damage Done by Todd Clouser's A Love Electric with Brian Allen on trombone, Mark Aanderud on piano, Aaron Cruz on bass and Herman Hecht on drums.
