Artist:Grace Potter
Song:Love Is Love
Album:Daylight
Grace Potter is best known as lead singer of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. They disbanded in 2015 and she has made a new start as a solo artist. So far her success is as an album and touring act. She was born June 20, 1983 in Waitsfield, VT. Her parents own a woodworking business and her mother is a piano teacher. Her sister is a glass artist. While attending St. Lawrence University, Grace met drummer Matt Burr. They married and formed Grace Potter and the Nocturnals in 2002. After signing with Hollywood Records, the band was very successful. After Grace divorced Burr, the band split up. Grace had previously recorded two solo albums and she released the album Midnight in 2015. That album was produced by veteran producer Eric Valentine. She was still married to Burr. Grace says she fell in love with Valentine while recording the album. She said after The Nocturnals split up that she would never record again. She married Valentine in 2017 and gave birth to their son. And not surprisingly, she changed her mind and signed with Fantasy Records for her 2019 album Daylight. The album has done well on the Adult Alternative market. Some critics complained that the music is much slicker than The Nocturnals and that is probably Valentine's influence. Her second album on Fantasy was released in 2023. Former Nocturnals guitarist Benny Yurco played on Daylight but the other members haven't done anything yet. I don't expect Grace Potter to ever top the Billboard Hot 100 but she'll do OK with an older audience. Here's the video for Love Is Love by Grace Potter.
