AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Earl Thomas Conley

Artist: Earl Thomas Conley f/Keith Whitley

Song:Brotherly Love

Album:The Essential Earl Thomas Conley

Brotherly Love was a top five country hit in 1991. It was the final big hit for Earl Thomas Conley and it was released after Keith Whitley's 1988 death. Brotherly Love was recorded in 1987 which makes me think it was recorded for Whitley's 1988 album Don't Close Your Eyes but didn't make the album. It was produced by Whitley's producer Garth Fundis. Both Whitley and Conley were on RCA. Brotherly Love was written by Jimmy Alan Stewart and Tim Nichols. Stewart was a veteran songwriter and this was his biggest hit. This was Nichols' first big hit in his songwriting career. Moe Bandy charted with his 1989 recording of Brotherly Love. After Whitley's death, RCA was putting together a tribute album. Brotherly Love was one of several previously unreleased tracks that were on the 1991 album Kentucky Bluebird. RCA also added it to Conley's 1991 album Yours Truly which was mostly produced by Larry Michael Lee and Josh Leo. Brotherly Love reached #2 on the Country Singles chart. It was also nominated for a Best Country Duet Grammy award. Not only was this Conley's final big hit but Yours Truly was his final RCA album. You can get Brotherly Love on this Earl Thomas Conley budget comp. It also appears on a Keith Whitley comp but the Conley comp is longer and therefore a better value. Here's the video for Brotherly Love by Earl Thomas Conley featuring Keith Whitley.
