AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Aaron Tveit

Artist:Aaron Tveit w/Karen Olivo

Song:Your Song

Album:Moulin Rouge! The Musical: Original Broadway Cast Recording

Aaron Tveit won a Tony for playing Christian in the 2019 musical adaptation of Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film Moulin Rouge!. Luhrmann had wanted to turn Moulin Rouge into a musical since 2002. He signed with Global Creatures to develop it as a musical in 2016 and it played on Broadway in 2019. Similar to the film, it mixes original songs with classics and is classified as a jukebox musical. Aaron Tveit and Karen Olivo are the leads. And as I said Tveit won a Tony. He was born Oct. 21, 1983 in Middletown, NY which is in the Hudson Valley. In high school, Tveit was in all the school shows. Then he attended Ithaca College with a musical theater major. While attending college, he appeared in national tours of Rent and Hairspray. He got college credit for this. He also appeared on Broadway in Hairspray. He appeared in regional productions of Calvin Berger and The Three Musketeers. The musical Next to Normal was his first big show. Tveit appeared off Broadway and when the show came to Broadway in 2009. Then he appeared in the musical adaptation of the film Catch Me If You Can. He also had a recurring role on the TV series Gossip Girl. Then Tveit got his first big film role as Enjorlas in the 2012 film of the musical Les Miserables. The led to a starring role in the USA TV series Graceland which ran for three seasons. He was looking to return to Broadway and that happened with Moulin Rouge! in 2019 The show won several Tonys including one for Tveit. Moulin Rouge! closed in 2022 because of COVID so Tveit appeared in the Apple TV+ series Schmigadoon! which is a parody of musicals. He is currently set to replace Josh Groban in the musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. So at this point he is juggling Broadway and films & TV which is tough to do. Here's Aaron Tveit with Karen Olivo performing Your Song on a 2019 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
