Artist:Sr. Bikini
Song:Fuera Ropa
Album:Surf Extremo
Fans of the popular instrumental band Los Straightjackets will want to check out Sr. Bikini. Like Los Straitjackets, Sr. Bikini plays instrumental surf music. And also like Los Straitjackets, Sr. Bikini performs on stage under lucha masks as a tribute to Mexican wrestling. The differences are Los Straitjackets are from the Nashville studio scene. So we know who is under the masks. They started wearing the masks on a whim and it caught on. Sr. Bikini are from Mexico City. The musicians are identified as Big Mascara on guitar, Star Krill on bass and Mascara del Mar on drums. They have never performed without the masks so I don't know who they are. Surf Extremo was their 1999 debut album. It's available as a digital download. They got some buzz when they covered Jewish Princess for a Frank Zappa tribute album. They mostly play in Mexico. To celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2019, they released a live album. And they also sell merchandise on their Facebook page. They certainly have a cult following. Fans of instrumental surf music should check them out. Here's Sr. Bikini performing Fuera Ropa. This was posted on their Facebook page.
