Artist:Bob Moses
Song:Tearing Me Up
Album:Days Gone By
Most jazz fans should be familiar with drummer Bob Moses. That's not who these guys are. They aren't even named after him. This duo Bob Moses had success when the 2015 single Tearing Me Up was a club hit and won a Grammy. Jimmy Vallance and Tom Howie went to the same Vancouver high school. Vallance is the son of musicians. His father Jim Vallance was Bryan Adams' songwriting partner. His mother Rachel Paiement was in the 70s group CANO. After high school, Vallance moved to New York and got into doing remixes. Howie attended Berklee in Boston for a year. Then he moved to New York. After a chance encounter in a Lowe's parking lot, they decided to work together mostly on remixes. They eventually started making their own music. Francis Harris of the label Scissor & Thread thought they might have something and suggested naming themselves after New York architect Bob Moses. That way they could remain anonymous. After a couple of EPs, Bob Moses signed with Domino Records. The album Days Gone By was released in 2015. The single Tearing Me Up was a dance club hit. It reached #16 on Billboard Alternative Songs chart. It was also nominated for two Grammys and it won Best Remix Recording. Since then Bob Moses has released two albums and some EPs. They have already have had more success than expected. They can always go back to doing remixes and get into producing. Here's the video for Tearing Me Up by Bob Moses. This video is so steamy, it is age restricted so I had to download it and upload it to the blog. It's not embeddable. That has never happened before.
