Twila Paris was one of the most popular Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) artists of the 80s and 90s. She is known as "the modern day hymnwriter". The Warrior Is A Child was her very first number one CCM hit in 1984. She was born Dec. 28, 1958 in Fort Worth, TX but she grew up in Arkansas. Her grandparents were traveling preachers. And so were her parents. As a child Twila toured with them. And she released an album in 1965. Her father founded Ecclesia College in Springdale, AR. Twila self financed her 1980 album Knowin' You're Around. It got her a deal with Milk & Honey Records. Her 1984 album The Warrior Is A Child was produced by Jonathan David Brown, a recording engineer who worked with many CCM artists. The single The Warrior Is A Child topped the CCM charts. It was her first number one hit. Twila continued to have success into the 90s first for Star Song and then for EMI's Sparrow label. She won the Dove Award for Female Vocalist of the Year from 1993-1995. In recent years she has produced her own albums and released them through eOne. This budget comp is a good intro to her music.
