Four matches announced for July 21 JEWELS show

VV Mei
JEWELS announced today on their blog four matches for the July 21 Differ Ariake show. I don't know if they're using a cage but the capacity of this arena is double of Shinjuku FACE where they normally run this time of year. So we'll see how that goes. In a match contracted for 52kg, VV Mei will face Emi Tomimatsu. Mei is freelance. Her record is 9-4 and her last fight was a loss to Katja Kankaanpaa on the Mar. 23 BP show in Finland. After the loss, she told GB Ring she was considering a drop to 48kg. I think this could be a good move for her as she is undersized for 52kg and I also think she has been unimpressive in her recent fights. Tomimatsu trains at Paraestra Matsudo. Her record is 5-4 and her last fight was a win over Amiba on the Mar. 3 JEWELS show. Tomimatsu started out as a pro wrestler for JD Star and turned to MMA in 2006. Her record is deceiving because she was seriously injured in a Jan. 2009 match with WINDY Tomomi. She has had three straight wins since returning Sept. 2011. She lost to Mei on a 2007 Smackgirl show. Mei is better known and the likely favourite. But Tomimatsu has a lot to gain with a win. We should get a good reading about her improvement. An upset is possible. This match will be under official JEWELS rules. In a match contracted for 46kg, Yasuko Tamada will face Naoko Omuro. Tamada trains at AACC. Her record is 12-8 and her last fight was a loss to Sugi Rock on the May 26 JEWELS show. She is on a four fight losing streak. Omuro trains at WK. Her record is 13-8 and her last fight was a win over Happy Fukuko on the Apr. 1 PANCRASE show. These two have fought twice before. Tamada won one and the other was a draw. This will be Omuro's JEWELS debut so a win could get her a shot at Sugi Rock's JEWELS Flyweight Championship. This fight will be under full contact MMA rules. In a fight contracted for 62kg, Megumi Yabushita will face Shizuka Sugiyama. Yabushita is a pioneer of women's MMA and is still a pro wrestler. She runs FIGHT CHIX. Her record is 19-19 and her last fight was a loss to Kyoko Kimura on the Nov. 12 PANCRASE show. Sugiyama trains at Zendokai. Her record is 6-3 and her last fight was a loss to Esui on the Dec. 17, 2010 JEWELS show. This is her return to JEWELS after living in Australia for the last year. She did train there and compete in some amateur tournaments. When Sugiyama started out in 2008, she looked pretty good. But she went on a downward spiral that made it look like she didn't want to fight anymore. We'll see what she's like in her return. This match will be under full contact rules. In a match contracted for 46kg, Yukiko Seki will face Satomi Takano. Seki trains at FIGHT CHIX. Her record is 11-21 and her last fight was a win over Yuko Kawabata on the May 26 JEWELS show. Takano will be making her pro MMA debut. She won an amateur match on the Mar. 3 JEWELS show. She trains at Club Barbarian which of course produced fighters like MIKU and Sakura Nomura. This fight will be under official JEWELS rules. Haven't seen the poster yet so it doesn't appear JEWELS has announced the main event yet. Stay tuned for further developments.
