Yahoo LAUNCHCAST Song Of The Day-Days Of The New

Artist:Days Of The New
Song:Touch, Peel And Stand
Album:Days Of The New

Days Of The New made a bit of a splash with this 1997 debut CD but the immaturity and drug abuse of group leader Travis Meeks has killed them. He's currently planning a comeback. He was born Apr. 27, 1979 in Jeffersonville, IN. His father recorded with The Box Tops. Meeks was playing in bands at a very young age. In 1995, he moved to Louisville, KY and formed Days Of The New with Matt Taul, Todd Whitener & Jesse Vest. They signed with Geffen Records and their self titled debut was released in 1997. The album and single Touch, Peel And Stand did very well on the modern rock charts. Unlike a lot mainstream rock, Meeks prefers the sound of acoustic guitars and that distinguishes the band from others. But Meeks didn't get along with the other members and after it was reported that they all got into a fight, all three left to form the group Tantric. Meeks formed a new version of Days Of The New but follow up albums weren't as successful. Meanwhile Meeks became addicted to painkillers and other drugs and it got so bad that he was the subject of an episode of A & E's Intervention TV series. He's been clean since 2005. Travis Meeks has moved to New York and is currently working on a new Days Of The New album called Tree Colors. It is scheduled for release in 2009. Hopefully Meeks has his personal issues straightened out because he has talent. Here's the video for Touch, Peel And Stand by Days Of The New.
