Pro Wrestling WAVE in Osaka

Now that MMA has calmed down, I'll get back to some joshi. Hopefully I'll get caught up by next week. Before I get into the Sept. 21 Pro Wrestling WAVE Osaka show, fans have asked me about the Crazy WAVE nonsense with the three shows in 24 hours. Though these idiots are trying to paint a rosy picture by saying they're doing it again next year, the whole thing was a disaster. They didn't do anything special with the match booking and they must have been disappointed because it took several days for them to post attendance figures on the website. The midnight show had 127 fans. The noon show had 86 fans. The evening show had 105 fans. At least they got 238 fans for the Osaka show. It's just pathetic. These have to be the most incompetent morons ever to run a wrestling company. It's just sad and it's bad for the whole industry. And the worst part is they're too stupid to cut their losses and close. Ugh!

The opener had Hailey Hatred vs Bullfight Sora. I know, the cow is supposed to be kaput. Hailey dominates with strikes and kicks. Sora comes back with a cross body and a boston crab but Hailey takes over with more of the same. Then they do a comedy spot where Sora asks Hailey to demonstrate her fisherman buster. Sora turns it into a small package for two. Hailey goes back to hammering Sora and after a lariat and a backdrop suplex, she wins with the fisherman buster at 12:05. Next was an exhibition between Devil Masami & grandma Jumbo Hori. This was strictly for nostalgia reasons and there was nothing to it. Next was a JD reunion with Yumi Ohka & Megumi Yabushita vs Ranmaru & Hiroyo Muto. It's pretty much what you'd expect with Yabushita's submission attempts and Ranmaru's kicks. Muto & Ohka are in at the end and after Muto hits a power bomb and the pin is broken up, Ohka wins with the Bloody X at 17:42. I guess a tribute to The Bloody was appropriate.

The point of the next match was to pair a veteran with a youngster so it was AKINO & Misaki Ohata vs Toshie Uematsu & Moeka Haruhi. I know, it's random pointless booking. It's a big problem with WAVE. So you had spots like AKINO & Ohata trapping Uematsu & Haruhi in the corner and delivering rapid fire dropkicks. The match was reasonable when AKINO & Uematsu were working together for most of the mid part of the match. Huruhi tried to pin Ohata with a backslide but Ohata escapes and uses a little misdirection to win at 17:52. The main event was equally random. The Shirai Sisters & Kana vs GAMI, Kyoko Kimura & Ran YuYu, youngsters vs veterans. The veterans were heeling the youngsters for the most part with lots of comedy including a bit spoofing Kana's hip attack. Kana & Ran had some decent spots mid-match. The end came with GAMI throwing Kana around with a lariat and a power bomb. Kimura accidently nails GAMI with a head butt and Ran nails her with a flying elbow. Kana takes advantage and wins over GAMI with the Billyken at 21:52. That's right, another rollup pin for a youngster. How novel.
