Yahoo LAUNCHCAST Song Of The Day-Dana Glover

Artist:Dana Glover
Song:Thinking Over
Album:Testimony

If singer songwriter Dana Glover made one mistake in her career, it was her two year modelling career as a teenager. Now she gets labelled as an ex-model and that makes it difficult to take her music seriously...until you actually listen to her. Dana's 2003 CD Testimony made some inroads in the Adult Contemporary market but it didn't quite get over. She was born Oct. 14, 1974 in Rocky Mount, NC. She grew up listening to gospel music and is a big fan of The Winans. She learned to play the sax and after performing in a school talent show, she decided to be a musician. To further that goal, Dana moved to New York to become a model. She continued to write songs while living in New York for two years. She then moved to Nashville but didn't like it and moved to Los Angeles. She started playing in clubs and got her big break playing sax on Peter Cetera's 1995 CD One Clear Voice and toured and sang duets with him. Dana auditioned for DreamWorks Records and was signed by Robbie Robertson. Dana first surfaced performing songs in The Wedding Planner and then Shrek. Robertson then introduced her to producer Matthew Wilder, best known for his 1983 top 5 hit Break My Stride. He's been a producer for several years and he produced Dana's 2003 debut Testimony. Thinking Over reached #17 on the Adult Contemporary charts and was used in the 2004 film Raising Helen. Of course DreamWorks Records closed in 2006 so Dana Glover is now shopping for a new record label. There have been reports that she has been working on new music with producer Patrick Leonard and she has turned up doing backup vocals on some of his productions. She writes her own songs so she has talent. Dana Glover is more than a pretty face. Here's the video for Thinking Over by Dana Glover. There are two videos for the song but this one isn't on Youtube.
