Sebastian Yatra is a Colombian pop singer who sang a song in the 2021 Disney film Encanto. Yatra says that singing in a Disney film about his country was a dream come true. Usually Yatra is a very popular pop singer in his native Colombia and other Latin American countries. He was born Oct. 15, 1994 in Medellin, Colombia but he grew up in Miami with his mother. His father remained in Colombia working in real estate. He studied piano, guitar and vocal technique and after attending a concert by the popular singer Juanes at age 12, he decided to become a singer. He started releasing singles in 2013 and signed with Universal Music Latino in 2016. His first number one hit in Colombia was Traicionera and he has had great success in Latin America since then. His main songwriters and producers are Andres Torres and Mauricio Rengifo. Torres produced the 2017 Luis Fonsi hit Despacito. Rengifo is half of the duo Cali & El Dandee. Encanto songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda brought Yatra in to sing Dos Orguitas after hearing his 2021 single Adios. Of course Encanto was a very successful film. I'm a big Miranda fan, especially In the Heights. There are soundtrack albums for Encanto in English and Spanish. You can stream Encanto on Disney+. It's a must watch if you haven't seen it. Yatra released his latest album Dharma in 2022 and he toured to support it. He's released a few singles. I would expect a new album in the near future.
