Passion is the music branch of Atlanta's Passion Church. Like many Praise & Worship (P&W) groups, the church and the music go hand in hand. That is true of other P&W groups like Hillsong and Bethel Music. Passion started in 1995 when Louie Giglio moved from Texas to Atlanta to care for his sick father. Giglio is an Atlanta native but he ran a student ministry at Baylor University. After releasing a couple of albums on Star Song, Giglio and partner Chris Tomlin started sixstepsrecords with Capitol EMI distribution. As one of CCM's most popular artists, Tomlin obviously carries the load. But Passion has also had commercial success. Normally they record an album at their annual convention. One Thing Remains is from the 2012 album White Flag. This was recorded live at the 2012 Passion Conference in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta with 42,000 in attendance. It's like I always say. P&W may be at the fringe of the music business. But they know their audience and how to appeal to them. One Thing Remains topped the Christian Singles chart. It is to date Passion's only #1 single. The lead singer is Kristian Stanfill who is a worship leader at Passion. The song was written by Brian Johnson and Jeremy Riddle of Bethel Music who originally recorded it. Other featured singers on the album include Chris Tomlin, David Crowder and Matt Redman. Nathan Nockels is credited as producer. His wife Christy Nockels is one of the singers. They led the band Watermark but are now full time in Passion. This album is available as a budget CD. But I recommend this 3CD Collection containing White Flag, the 2013 album Let the Future Begin and the 2014 album Take It All at a reasonable price. Passion usually records a live album at each annual conference. So there is plenty of music available.
