The 1993 single Right in the Night was the biggest hit for the German production duo Jam & Spoon. It was a hit in Europe and in dance clubs. The song is standard Eurodisco. They are from Frankfurt, Germany. Rolf "Jam El Mar" Ellmer is a classically trained composer. Markus "Mark Spoon" Loffel is a DJ. They started working together as Jam & Spoon and released the 1991 album BreaksUnit1 on the CBS Germany owned label Dance Pool. Then the 1993 single Right in the Night was a big hit across Europe and in dance clubs. It reached #10 on the British Singles chart and #3 on the Dance chart. Ellmer based it on the song Leyenda by the Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz. Ellmer also played the Flamenco style guitar riff. The lyrics are by Nosie Katzmann who wrote songs like Mr. Vain for Captain Hollywood Project. The singer is Plavka Lonich who is from San Jose, CA. but has lived in Europe for many years. She was living in Frankfurt at the time. Plavka continued to work with Jam & Spoon. This album is available as a budget CD. It was released in the US on Epic. Two other singles from the album charted across Europe. There were five Jam & Spoon albums released from 1991-2005. The two have also released music as Tokyo Ghetto Pussy and Storm. Both guys have produced other artists. Markus Loffel died of a heart attack on Jan. 11, 2006 at age 35. Ellmer still releases music occasionally.
