Based on this 2009 album, the vocal duo of Chris Kuti and Conrad Johnson had the potential to be huge stars in the CCM market. The 2009 album Chris and Conrad got plenty of hype and did well on the charts. Then they split up in 2010. They only recorded one album. The two are from Lakeland, FL. Kuti and Johnson were performing solo but they were managed by the same guy. Kuti released a solo album in 2007 and he wrote songs for Big Daddy Weave. They started writing together and signed with VSR Music Group with EMI distribution. Chris and Conrad was released in 2009. They were named by CCM Magazine as an Artist You Oughta Know. Lead Me to the Cross was the first single and it topped the Christian charts. So they were going places. The two wrote all the songs together except for Lead Me to the Cross written by Brooke Fraser for Hillsong. That's one of the reasons the first single was a hit. Listeners were already familiar with it. They produced the album with David Ravilla Garcia who also produced Kuti's album. They toured and things looked optimistic. Then they split up in 2010. The album is available as a budget CD. Kuti and his wife are pastors at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, TX. Johnson released an album in 2019.
