Toby Love was a member of Aventura when he decided to go solo in 2006. Tengo un Amor was was his first of several hits on the Latin charts. He is currently attempting to reinvent himself as a Christian artist. He was born Octavio Rivera Oct. 20, 1985 in The Bronx, NY. His parents are from Puerto Rico. His father sang for the salsa group Conjunto Clasico. When his mother married a Dominican man, that got him into bachata. The members of Aventura lived in the same neighborhood so Max "Mikey" Santos asked Love to join the group. He started out singing backup vocals. But by the 2002 album We Broke the Rules, he was singing leads most notably on a bachata cover of NSYNC's Gone. Love left Aventura in 2006 and signed with Sony Latin. His debut single Tengo en Amor reached #2 on the US Latin chart. The album was certified Platinum. Love wrote Tengo en Amor and most of the songs with producer Edwin Perez. Love recorded three albums for Sony and this budget CD has all of his hits. After leaving Sony, Love recorded for Top Stop and Elegante. He wrote all the songs and self produced. He has converted to Christianity and released the 2021 single Jesus te Amo as Tobiah. That's his latest recording. Here's the video for Tengo en Amor by Toby Love.
