Since his 2017 debut, singer songwriter Christian Nodal has caused a commotion by popularizing what is called Mariacheno. This is a fusion of mariachi and norteno featuring the accordion. Nodal has had chart success in Mexico and on the US Latin chart. He was born Jan. 11, 1999 in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. His father Jaime Gonzalez produces his albums. His whole family are musicians so that's where he learned everything. Nodal started out posting videos on Facebook and that led to a record deal with Universal Music Latin. He was an immediate sensation in Mexico when his singles Adios Amor and Te Falle topped the charts there. Then the 2017 album Me Deje Llevar topped the Mexican charts and the title song reached #3 on the Mexican charts. The album was certified 2XPlatinum in Mexico and 3XPlatinum in US Latin. Nodal wrote several songs including Me Deje Llevar and his father Jaime Gonzalez produces. The album is available as a budget CD. Nodal recorded three successful albums for Universal. Then there was a lawsuit regarding who owns Nadal's music. Universal sued Nodal's parents for fraud. Nodal switched to Sony Latin. The 2023 album Forajido is a combination of 2 EPs plus a DVD.
