Artist:Matthew Morrison
Song:Younger Than Springtime
Album:Where It All Began
Matthew Morrison is best known for his days on the TV show Glee. But he has had a lot of success on Broadway. He was nominated for a Tony for the 2005 musical The Light in the Piazza and he was in the 2008 revival of South Pacific. He was born Oct. 30, 1978 in Fort Ord, CA. He's been doing musical theater since he was a child. After attending New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, he joined the Broadway show Footloose in 1998. His big break came when he starred as Fabrizio Nacarelli in the Broadway musical The Light in the Piazza. He was nominated for a Tony. On TV he appeared in the 2005 production of the musical Once Upon A Mattress. And he also appeared on the daytime soap As The World Turns. He returned to Broadway to play Lt. Cable in the 2008 revival of South Pacific. Younger Than Springtime was his big song in the show. Then he was in Glee. And I think that's where most folks have seen him. Morrison attempted to launch a recording career with the 2011 album Matthew Morrison on Mercury. He released the 2013 album Where It All Began on Adam Levine's 222 label with Interscope distribution. It's a showtunes album including Younger Than Springtime. Phil Ramone produced the album and Tim Davis arranged and conducted. Davis and Morrison worked together on Glee. That album and the original cast album of South Pacific are both available on CD. Morrison returned to Broadway in the 2015 musical Finding Neverland. And he has released the 2020 album Disney Dreamin' of Disney covers. So I think musical theater is his thing. Here's Matthew Morrison performing Younger Than Springtime with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square in New York City July 2018. This entire concert can be streamed on YouTube.
