Artist:Hinder
Song:Lips of an Angel
Album:Extreme Behavior
The post grunge band Hinder made a big splash with their 2005 debut album Extreme Behavior and the top five hit Lips of an Angel. They haven't been as successful since then but they are still around. Hinder are from Oklahoma City. Bryce Hinder was lead singer in a local cover band. He met drummer Cody Hanson and guitarist Joe Garvey at a party and Hinder was formed. Austin Winkler was soon brought in to replace Hinder. After bringing in bassist Cole Parker, they recorded a demo. They started performing at the club The Blue Note. Parker was replaced by Mike Rodden and rhythm guitarist Mark King. After releasing an EP, record companies came calling and Hinder signed with Universal Republic. The 2005 album Extreme Behavior soon followed. The album was produced by Brian Howes. He is from Vancouver and is best known for producing the band Hadley. He also wrote all the songs with Winkler and Hanson. Lips of an Angel reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Extreme Behavior was certified 3XPlatinum. Subsequent albums haven't done nearly as well. I assume most fans perceive Hinder as a one hit wonder. But a couple of their other songs charted so technically they aren't a one hit wonder. Hinder continued to tour and record. In 2013, Winkler went into rehab and eventually replaced by Marshall Dutton. Hinder left Universal Republic for the 2015 album When the Smoke Clears for The End with BMG distribution. Their latest album The Reign was released in 2017 and they are currently working on new music. Hanson and Dutton write and produce all the songs. Winkler has released an EP as Austin John. It looks like he recorded a couple of songs with Tantric but he didn't stay. He is working on new music but he has had health issues including COVID-19. Here's the video for Lips of an Angel by Hinder.
