AccuRadio Song Of The Day-James Bay

 Artist:James Bay

Song:Let It Go

Album:Chaos and the Calm

British singer songwriter James Bay will remind you of other similar singers especially Ed Sheeran. The 2014 single Let It Go is his biggest hit to date. He was born Sept. 4, 1990 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England. He started playing guitar as a teen and he studied at BIMM Institute in Brighton. He performed in clubs on open mic nights. After a video of him performing was uploaded to YouTube, Universal Republic signed Bay to a record deal. His EP Dark of the Morning was released in 2013. Bay went on a UK tour. Let It Go appeared on a 2014 EP. It was Bay's first single. It reached #10 on the British Singles chart and #16 on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single Hold back the River reached #2 on the British singles chart. The album Chaos and the Calm was released in 2015. Both singles are on it. The album topped the British charts and was certified 2XPlatinum. It was certified Gold in the US. The album was produced by Jacquire King who also produces Kings of Leon. Bay wrote all the songs usually with a co-writer. Paul Barry co-wrote Let It Go. He wrote Cher's Believe. Bay won a Brit Award and he was nominated for Grammys. Bay's second album Electric Light was released in 2018. It did OK in England but not as well. And it looks like he will be a one hit wonder in the US. It's a problem that music fans confuse him with Ed Sheeran. Bay needs to have his own identity. The two have even performed together. Bay is currently working on a new album in Nashville with Dave Cobb and Brandon Flowers of The Killers. A single was released in July so the album should be out soon. Here's the video for Let It Go by James Bay.
