Artist:Granger Smith
Song:Backroad Song
Album:Remington
Country music singer songwriter Granger Smith started out releasing music on his own label. He finally had success when he signed with a major label. The 2016 single Backroad Song is his biggest hit to date. He was born Sept. 4, 1979 in Dallas. After playing local clubs as a teen, Smith earned a publishing deal with EMI while attending Texas A&M. He soon moved to Nashville and started releasing albums on his own label. He signed with Broken Bow's Wheelhouse label in 2015. Broken Bow was sold to BMG in 2017. Backroad Song is from the 2016 album Remington. It was Smith's first album on Wheelhouse. Backroad Song reached #4 on the Country Singles chart. Smith wrote and produced the song and most of the album with producer Frank Rogers. Rogers is best known for producing Brad Paisley. Though he has had subsequent chart hits, Backroad Song is Smith's biggest hit to date. Smith's latest album is Country Things Vol. 1. Smith also records as Earl Dibbles Jr. which is a spoof of "country boys". He usually records one song per album as Dibbles and singles and videos have been released under that name. I'm sure Smith would be on tour if there was no pandemic. He writes songs so even if his recording career stalls, he can write songs for others. Here's the video for Backroad Song by Granger Smith.
