JEWELS announced today on their blog additional matches for their July 11 Shin-kiba 1st Ring show. The previously announced main event between Megumi Fujii & Saori Ishioka is scheduled for three five minute rounds. The other matches are scheduled fot two five minute rounds. The big news is that Hitomi Akano (pictured) will make her first appearance since her misadventures in San Jose for Strikeforce. Her record is 14-6. Her opponent in this 60kg match is Miki Morifuji. Her record is 7-5 and most recently won over Mayu on the May 16 JEWELS show. In a 64kg match undefeated rising star Shizuka Sugiyama will face HARI. Sugiyama's record is 3-0 and she beat Celine on the last JEWELS show. HARI is 5-7 and most recently lost to Hitomi Akano on the Nov. 26 JEWELS show. In a 60kg match, the winless HARUMI will face Hiroko Kitamura. HURUMI is 0-11 and lost to Chihiro Oikawa on the last JEWELS show. Kitamura is making her pro MMA debut but has several years of amateur experience. and in a 56kg match, Matsumi Kasai will make her JEWELS debut against the Norwegian fighter Celine. Kasai's record is 2-0-1 and her last match was a draw against Kinuka Sasaki on the Oct. 26 Shooto show. Celine lost her pro debut to Shizuka Sugiyama on the last JEWELS show. I expect a couple more matches to be announced including some Shoot Boxing. Pro wrestler Fuuka is supposed to be on this show probably in a Shoot Boxing match and Mika Nagano is out doing promo appearances for JEWELS so I expect that she will be on this show too.
