Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Yahoo LAUNCHCAST Song Of The Day-Etta James
Artist:Etta James
Song:Seven Day Fool
Album:The Essential Etta James
Of course I've talked about Etta James before. She's one of the all time greats of R & B and continues to make great music today. But I'm featuring Seven Day Fool because Toronto based R & B singer Jully Black has recently had a big hit with the song and I don't think a lot of her fans have any idea that it's a cover. And they certainly don't know anything about Etta James. Etta signed with Chess Records in 1960 and had her breakthrough hit with At Last in 1961. Seven Day Fool was on her second Chess album called Second Time Around. Don't Cry Baby and Fool That I Am were the big hits from that album. But Seven Day Fool did find the lower reaches of the pop charts in 1961. The song was written by Motown Records owner Berry Gordy Jr. along with his pre-Motown songwriting partner Billy Davis and Hank Ballard & The Midniters bassist Sonny Woods. Chess produced Etta James as more of a pop singer than the R & B you might expect. Riley Hampton produced and arranged the record. Over the years the song hasn't been covered so you have to give Jully Black a lot of credit for covering a song that most folks aren't familiar with and therefore sounds fresh. I suggest you buy this 2CD comp of classic Etta James Chess recordings. I bet Jully Black has it and would recommend it highly. Here's a video for Seven Day fool by Etta James.
