Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Baszler/Cyborg on July 26 EliteXC show
EliteXC will have another live show on CBS July 26 9PM. And there will be a womens match on the show. There have been reports that CBS tried to get EliteXC to put Gina Carano on the show but EliteXC wisely said no. But it looks like they have a pretty good fight planned. The plan is for the winner of this fight to face Carano for an EliteXC womens title in October. It's been known for a while that Shayna Baszler would be one of the fighters as she has been working for EliteXC for a while. Shayna trains with Josh Barnett's Angels Of Destruction. Her record is 9-4 but she's on a four fight winning streak. Her most recent win was over Tama Chan on the Apr. 5 ShoXC show. Shayna has really stepped up her game over the last year and may be ready to take the next step to MMA stardom.
Last week Tatame in Brazil reported that Shayna's opponent on July 26 would be Brazilian fighter Cristiane Cyborg (that's her in pink). This was confirmed today. Cris trains at Chute Boxe and is married to MMA fighter Evangelista Cyborg. Her record is 4-0 and her most recent win was over Marise Vitoria at the Nov. 25, 2006 Storm Samurai show. She's an unknown quantity outside Brazil. Two attempts were made earlier this year to bring Cris to fight in the US but she ran into visa problems. I assume that EliteXC has got that covered. My observation is that some fans are somewhat enamored with Cris's impressive physique and believe that and her record make her the favourite. But she hasn't faced anyone as accomplished as Shayna Baszler and I expect Shayna to counter Cris's strength with her ground skills. I'm sure Shayna doesn't mind being the underdog. That can be very motivating. I look forward to a great fight.
