Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Invicta FC 28 analysis
Today Invicta announced the complete card for Invicta FC 28 Mar. 24 at the Union Event Center in Salt Lake City. As usual, I will analyze the card. When I first saw the card this morning, I thought it was the worst Invicta card ever. The main event is for the vacant Invicta Strawweight Championship. All of their championships are vacant right now. Maybe they should be having two championship matches. We have two Brazilians, Virna Jandiroba vs Janaisa Morandin. I guess I wouldn't have either of them in a title match. Virna has had one match in Invicta which she won in Dec. She looked pretty good. Her record is 12-0. Janaisa is 10-1 but 1-1 in Invicta. I didn't see anything from her to think she should get a title shot. But I guess Invicta's thinking is the winner will stay for a while and won't sign with the UFC. That seems like an exercise in futility. Let them keep hitting their collective heads against the wall. Maybe they will learn eventually. Neither fighter is a draw. The co-main event has MIZUKI returning from injury to face Milana Dudieva. So why isn't MIZUKI in the title match? Because she is expected to sign with the UFC once she wins this match. They just want to make sure she's healthy. Milana was in the UFC as a Bantamweight and her last two fights in Invicta were at Flyweight. She has never fought at Strawweight. Does it matter? Not really. She's already on a four fight losing streak. She's a terrible fighter but OK for MIZUKI's tune up fight. It's an obvious mismatch with a clear purpose. In a Flyweight match, DeAnna Bennett will face Karina Rodriguez. DeAnna was in TUF 26. In her one UFC fight, she went to a majority draw against Melina Fabian. The UFC didn't sign either of them. The fight was terrible. Of course she's an Invicta veteran and they like her a lot more than me. Overrating fighters is normal for Invicta. Karina is 32 years old from Mexico City. Her record is 6-2 and 2-0 in Invicta. She hasn't faced a high level of competition yet and I don't think she is in this fight either. In a Strawweight bout, Minna Grusander will face Fernanda Priscila. Bith are Invicta newcomers. Minna is 28 years old from Finland. Her record is 6-1. She has great amateur credentials. Last year she was brought in to PANCRASE to fight Syuri. She was awful and they expected much more from her. Fernanda is a Brazilian with a 2-1 record. She seems inexperienced to me. They have announced that Kal Schwartz will face an opponent to be announced in a Strawweight bout. She's 1-1 in Invicta but I can't say anything without the opponent. In a Flyweight bout, Chelsea Chandler will face Kerri Kenneson. Both are making Invicta debuts. It is also Chelsea's MMA debut. She trains with the Diaz brothers in Srockton, CA. Kerri is 31 years old from New Hampshire. She has gone 2-0 in regional MMA. In a Strawweight bout, Pearl Gonzales will face Kali Robbins. Pearl went 0-2 in the UFC. It wasn't so much that she lost but she looked awful. Kali trains with Roufusport in Milwaukee. She won her Invicta debut in Aug. but she has had problems making weight. And finally in an Atomweight bout, Jillian DeCoursey will face Rebekah LeVine. Jillian is from Long Island, NY. She won her Invicta debut in August. Rebekah is 1-0 and making her Invicta debut. She trains at San Diego Combat Academy. So as usual, I don't like the top of the card much.
