AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Kruder & Dorfmeister

Artist:Kruder & Dorfmeister

Song:High Noon

Album:DJ-Kicks

Austrian DJs Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister had success on England's Acid Jazz scene of the 90s. A lot of times they use guest vocalists. But they also create instrumental music that I would describe as ambient electronica. That's what High Noon is. It first appeared on the 1993 EP G-Stoned. The cover of that EP was a tribute to Simon & Garfunkel's Bookends. When it was played on Acid Jazz creator Gilles Peterson's BBC radio show Worldwide, Kruder & Dorfmeister became famous. Of course they didn't want to be famous. Maybe they should have worn disguises like Daft Punk. They got into doing remixes on their own label. They rereleased High Noon on the 1996 album DJ-Kicks. It's all remixes and that's what they enjoy doing. They haven't recorded as a duo in a long time. But both guys are busy doing remixes, recording under aliases and reissuing old recordings. I recommend them to those who like electronica and trip hop. It's too ambient for me but this kind of music does have a following. Here's the video for High Noon by Kruder & Dorfmeister.
