AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Age of Electric

Artist:The Age of Electric

Song:I Don't Mind

Album:Make a Pest a Pet

The Age of Electric had modest success in their native Canada in the mid 90s. They had potential to be successful but they split up before their 1997 album Make a Pest a Pet could be released in the US. The Age of Electric were two sets of brothers from Saskatchewan. Singer and guitarist Todd Kerns and drummer Kurt Dahle conceived the band in 1986. But they were waiting for younger brothers singer and guitarist Ryan Dahle and bassist John Kerns to graduate high school so they could start playing shows. The Dahles are from Regina. The Kerns are from Lanigan. After releasing an album on their own label, they signed with Universal Canada for the 1995 album The Age of Electric. The album did well enough that Mercury Records planed to release the 1997 album Make a Pest a Pet in the US. The album was certified Gold in Canada. The problem was the band wasn't getting along and split up before Mercury could release the album. They had been opening on tour for Our Lady Peace. And they were nominated for a Best New Group Juno. So if they hadn't split up, they might have got somewhere. The Age of Electric wrote and produced themselves so there was potential. The Kerns brothers went on to form the band Static in Stereo in 2001. The Dahle brothers were members of The New Pornographers. The Age of Electric performed a reunion show in Calgary on Aug. 29, 2015. Then they released an expanded remastered 20th anniversary edition of Make a Pest a Pet in 2017 followed by a brief tour. Here's the video for I Don't Mind by The Age of Electric.
