The Beaches is an all girl Canadian band who have a following in Canada. But with the 2023 single Blame Brett, they made inroads into the US. So they have potential. They were formed in 2009 and are named after the east Toronto area known as The Beaches. The band was called Done with Dolls at first. They were formed by lead singer and bassist Jordan Miller, her guitarist sister Kylie Miller, guitarist Megan Fitchett and drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel. They toured in 2011 opening for Allstar Weekend and performed the theme for the Family Channel sitcom Really Me. Megan was replaced by Leandra Earl in 2013 and they renamed themselves The Beaches as that is where most of the band grew up. They also adopted an alt rock sound. After releasing a couple of EPs, they signed with Universal Canada and released the 2017 album Late Show produced by Emily Haines and James Shaw of Metric. The single T-Shirt topped the Canadian Rock chart and The Beaches won a Breakthrough Group of the Year Juno. After two more EPs, The Beaches signed a new record deal with Sony's AWAL label for the 2023 album Blame My Ex. This album was released in the US. The first single Blame Brett not only topped the Canadian Rock chart but it charted on the US Alt Rock chart. Apparently the song went viral on TikTok. They toured North America including an appearance at Lollapalooza. The band writes all the songs. The main producer is recording engineer Daniel Agee. So that was a big breakthrough for The Beaches. This album is available as a digital download. They have a new album No Hard Feelings coming out in a couple of weeks. They will tour to support it. We'll see how they do. Here's the video for Blame Brett by The Beaches.
