Artist:Rick Price
Song:Heaven Knows
Album:Heaven Knows
Not to be confused with The Move and ELO bassist Rick Price, this Rick Price had chart success in his native Australia in the early 90s. The 1992 single Heaven Knows was one of two top ten hits. He was born July 6, 1961 in Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia. As a child he toured with his family band Union Beau. They played local bush dances. At age 18 Price moved to Sydney where he became a session bassist and an in demand background singer. He joined Tommy Emmanuel's band in 1988. Then he sang Celebration for a Nation with Karen Minshull for the Australian Bicentenary. Price decided to launch a solo career. He started writing songs and he signed with Columbia in 1991. He recorded his debut album Heaven Knows in Los Angeles with veteran recording engineer and producer Chris Lord-Alge. Price's debut single Not a Day Goes By reached #5 on the Australian chart and Heaven Knows reached #6. The album was certified Platinum. Price wrote most of the songs with co-writers. Heaven Knows was written with background singer Heather Field. Columbia attempted to market Price outside Australia but he sounds too much like Richard Marx to get anywhere. He continued to chart in Australia. After three albums for Columbia, Price recorded for his own label until he recorded an album with the popular Aussie singer Jack Jones. That got him a new deal with Sony Australia. Price's latest album Soulville is an album of 60s covers. Here's the video for Heaven Knows by Rick Price.
