AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Barns Courtney

Artist:Barns Courtney
Song:99
Album:404

After a couple of false starts in bands, Barns Courtney is making his mark as a solo artist with singles like 99. He was born Nov. 17, 1990 in Aylesbury, England but his family moved to Seattle when he was four. He moved back to England at age 15. His band SleeperCell was featured in Channel 4's Orange Unsigned competition. His second band Dive Bella Dive signed with Island Records and performed at the 2012 Download Festival. They recorded an album but Island never released it and dropped the band. For the next couple of years, Barns had no home or income. But he still wanted a career in music. He finally got a break when his 2015 single Glitter & Gold got some BBC Radio play and topped the Spotify and iTunes charts. Then his single Fire was used in the 2015 film Burnt starring Bradley Cooper. This got him US radio play and a deal with Virgin Records. The album The Attractions of Youth was released in 2017. He appeared on Conan and the website All Indie selected Courtney as the #1 sound of 2017. 99 is from Courtney's new album 404. Courtney wrote and produced it with Dive Bella Dive bandmate Sam Battle. The single did well on the Alt Rock chart. He will tour in the spring. Several of his songs have appeared on TV shows like Cloak & Dagger and Nancy Drew. That's how record companies sell music these days. Here's the video for 99 by Barns Courtney.
