Here's the match video of Mara Romero Borella vs Taila Santos from last night's UFC show in Brazil. Mara is from Italy but she trains at American Top Team in Florida. ATT co-owner Conan Silveira was in her corner. Mara is 1-1 in the UFC. She looked bad in her last fight. Taila was on the Brazil Dana White Contender Series. She is 15-0 on the Brazilian regional circuit. This was a big step up in competition for her. Taila is mainly a striker so Mara's goal was to tie her up, clinch on the fence and maybe take her down. She was successful for the first two rounds. There was a lot of clinching on the fence but they were active enough that the ref only broke it up once. Taila was a lot better in round three. If she had fought that way for the whole fight, she probably would have won. I scored it 29-28 for Mara. She won by split decision. I didn't think it was that close. Mara bounced back from a bad loss. But I still don't think she is a top fighter. Enjoy the video!
