AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Bastille

Artist:Bastille
Song:Pompeii
Album:All This Bad Blood

Pompeii was a top five hit in 2013 for the British group Bastille. Their latest album hasn't been as successful but they'll be OK. Bastille is led by singer songwriter Dan Smith. He was born July 14, 1986 in London. Of course that is Bastille Day. Smith has a degree in English Literature from the University of Leeds. He started out recording music in his bedroom. But in 2010 he turned it into a band with Kyle Simmons on keyboards, Will Farquarson on guitar and bass and Chris Wood on drums. They released an EP which got airplay on Alex Baker's Kerrang! Radio. Then they released the EP Laura Palmer. It seems that Smith is a big Twin Peaks fan. This led to a contract with Virgin Records. Bastille's debut CD Bad Blood was released Mar. 2013. There were a couple of singles released before the CD came out. But Pompeii was the single that really broke them. It reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Virgin released a 2CD expanded edition of Bad Blood called All This Bad Blood. This is available at a budget price. Bad Blood was certified Platinum. Of course Bastille toured successfully. Their 2016 CD Wild World did OK but not as well as the first album. Has Bastille peaked already? Maybe. They have a new CD coming. A single was released last month. My guess is they will continue to have success in England but not so much in the US. Time will tell. Here's the video for Pompeii by Bastille.
