Rose Namajunas vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk added to Apr. 7 UFC show

The UFC announced at a press conference today that Rose Namajunas will defend her UFC Strawweight Championship against the former champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 223 Apr. 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. I expected the rematch and I have known about this fight for a couple of weeks and I was waiting for an official confirmation. So we found out last month from Joanna's strength and conditioning coach Phil Daru that Joanna's nutritionists Perfecting Athletes botched her weight cut. She fired them. I assume she has hired a new nutritionist. Joanna is already training at American Top Team in Florida. It could be somebody that they recommend. I was asked if Perfecting Athletes is incompetent. Based on what Daru said, there may have been a control issue. A nutritionist is supposed to be part of the team and PA wanted to control everything. And choosing a nutritionist is hit and miss anyway because anyone can call himself a nutritionist. They aren't licensed. But it's become a cottage industry in the fight business. Who knows if they are competent? She had no problems with them before. So here's the thing. Joanna wants to prove that the loss was a fluke. And Rose wants to prove that it wasn't a fluke. That's what it boils down to. And if Joanna wins, I expect a rubber match. We all know what these fighters can do. I hope both are at their best so there are no doubts afterwards. It should be very interesting.
