!!! (pronounced chk chk chk) came out of the ashes of the Sacramento post punk scene. Adding dance grooves made them popular on the dance floor. They were formed in 1996. Lead singer Nic Offer was in The Yah Mos. The other members were in other Sacramento bands. The name !!! comes from the film The Gods Must Be Crazy. It is the sound made by the bushmen in the film. They released an album in 2000 and then moved to New York City in 2001. They signed with the British label Warp Records who specialize in experimental electronic music. I think !!! is more dance oriented than what they normally release. Must Be The Moon is from the 2007 album Myth Takes. It has been their most successful album to date. The band members are Nic Offer, Mario Andreoni, Dan Gorman, Tyler Pope and Allan Wilson. They all play multiple instruments. Pope left and was replaced by Rafael Cohen. !!!'s latest CD Shake The Shudder was released May 2017 and they just finished a tour to support it.
