Perry Farrell formed Porno For Pyros after Jane's Addiction split up. The band could have been successful but they only recorded two albums and then Jane's Addiction reformed in 1997. After Jane's Addiction disbanded in 1991, lead singer Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins formed Porno For Pyros. Farrell named the band after seeing a fireworks ad in a porno mag. The other members were guitarist Peter DiStefano and bassist Martyn LeNoble of Thelonious Monster. They signed with Warner Bros. which was Jane's Addiction's label. They toured before the 1993 album Porno For Pyros was released. So there was demand for the album. It was certified Gold and the video for Pets was in heavy rotation on MTV. Tahitian Urge is from the 1996 album Good God's Urge. There were problems during the recording of the album. LeNoble left and he was replaced by several bassists. Mike Watt was to be his full time replacement. While planning a tour, DiStefano was diagnosed with cancer. Farrell was considering reforming Jane's Addiction anyway. So when they did reunite in 1997, that was the end for Porno For Pyros. Farrell has teased a Porno For Pyros reunion occasionally. The last time he did this was in 2013. But he's busy with Jane's Addiction and other projects. It doesn't seem to be in the cards. Here's the video for Tahitian Moon by Porno For Pyros.
