John Michael King is best known for playing Freddie Eynsford-Hill in the Broadway production of My Fair Lady. He performed On The Street Where You Live and he won a Theater World award. He performed on Broadway for years but he was never a star. He was born May 13, 1926 in New York City. His dad was British actor Dennis King who moved to the US in 1921. He was also a Broadway performer best known for the 1925 show Rose Marie. John Michael King made his Broadway debut in 1943. But he didn't have a significant role until he auditioned for My Fair Lady. Of course that show was a huge success and King sang On The Street Where You Live. He won a Theater World award. But he was unable to parlay that into bigger roles on Broadway. For most of his career, King did a lot of touring musical casts. His biggest role on Broadway was in a 1977 revival of The King And I. His only TV appearance was in the 1983 mini series Kennedy. He died on Aug. 17, 2008 in Kilmarnock, VA. Here's a video for On The Street Where You Live by John Michael King.
