Chan Mi-Jeon in for Nadia Kassem at June 10 UFC show

Though this hasn't been announced, the UFC has posted on their website event page that Chan Mi-Jeon will replace Nadia Kassem and face JJ Aldrich on UFC Fight Night 110 June 10 at Vector Arena on Auckland, New Zealand. Nadia withdrew but it doesn't say why. Of course JJ is an Invicta veteran from Denver. She didn't look very good losing in her UFC debut to Juliana Lima. Chan is 19 years old from Seoul, South Korea. Her record is 5-0. All her fights have been for ALL FC in Korea who also own the gym where she trains. In her last fight, she was on the main event of ALL FC's Sept. 10 show against Megumi Yabushita. Chan won by KO. Of course Megumi is a Japanese MMA pioneer. But she shouldn't be fighting anymore and she should just stick to pro wrestling. This is another example of Asian countries not being regulated. So there is no one to tell promotions not to do stupid stuff. So I would describe Chan as unproven. Last month she signed with Invicta so no doubt that had a lot to do with UFC's interest in her. Also, all her fights have been at 55kg (121lb). She has never fought at 115. This show will air on Fox Sports 1 in the US and TSN in Canada. But I expect this match to air on UFC Fight Pass. Fans have asked me about the UFC signing two Korean fighters after the release of Ham Seo Hee. First, Ham wasn't released. They liked her and offered her a new contract. But she can make more money fighting at home for Road FC as an Atomweight. I think the two signings are coincidental. Ji Yeon Kim has been on the UFC radar for a while. I have known about her for a few years. The Chan signing is because they needed a late replacement and she was probably in training for her upcoming Invicta debut. Don't read too much into it.
