Artist:Willard Grant Conspiracy
Song:Soft Hand
Album:Regard The End
Willard Grant Conspiracy has been a real band in the past but it is really the alter ego of folksinger Robert Fisher. The group has had a revolving door of members though I think right now Fisher is working solo. The band started out in 1995 in Boston. Fisher and partner Paul Austin once had a band called The Flower Tamers. Fisher first released a CD as Willard Grant Conspiracy on his own label in 1996. Fisher, Austin and Sean O'Brien were the core of the band for several years with other musicians coming and going. They started touring and establishing a fanbase. Soft Hand is from the 2003 CD Regard The End. It's probably Fisher's best album to date and has a guest appearance from singer songwriter Kristen Hersh. Fisher is lead singer and writes all the songs so it's not surprising that Austin left to form Transmissionary Six with Terri Moeller of The Walkabouts. Fisher continues to record and tour as Willard Grant Conspiracy. He is currently signed to the German label Glitterhouse and his latest CD Paper Covers Stone was released in 2009. Fisher is currently on a solo tour but he recruits musicians as he needs them. Folk music fans should check him out. Here's Willard Grant Conspiracy performing Soft Hand at Rockpalast in Germany 2004.
