Artist:Matthew Good
Song:In A World Called Catastrophe
Album:In A Coma 1995-2005
Whether as part of The Matthew Good Band or as a solo artist, Matthew Good has been successful in his native Canada but is probably not that well known elsewhere. He's also more of an album artist than a singles artist. In A World Called Catastrophe is his most successful solo single to date. He was born June 29, 1971 in Burnaby, BC. He started out playing BC coffee houses as lead singer of the folk group The Rochester Kings. In 1993, The Matthew Good Band was formed with Dave Genn on guitar and keyboards, Ian Browne on drums and Geoff Lloyd on bass. The band had a lot of success in Canada but never really broke anywhere else. After Genn left to join 54-40 in 2001, Good dissolved the band and started a solo career. In A World Called Catastrophe is from his 2003 solo debut Avalanche and reached #5 on the Canadian Singles chart. He took a different direction on this album by adding the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. The comp In A Coma is a very good intro to Good's music and is available in a 2CD + DVD special edition but like most of Good's CDs was only released in Canada. That goes for his latest CD Vancouver and he's currently working on a new CD for a 2011 release. He is currently signed to Universal Canada. Matthew Good's songs are very politically charged just like he is on his blog. So he is worth checking out. Here's the video for In A World Called Catastrophe by Matthew Good.
