Kerry Vera KOs Kim Couture

Here's the video from last night's match between Kerry Vera and Kim Couture at Strikeforce in Kansas City. It went as expected. Kerry won by TKO in round one. She's too good for Kim. Though new to MMA, Kerry is a very experienced Muay Thai fighter and having seen her before, she is a very accurate and controlled striker. Kim's only hope was to try to take Kerry down and she couldn't do that. She tagged Kerry a couple of times but Kerry said afterwards that those shots just woke her up. You can see the rest for yourself. I don't know if Kim will continue fighting. If so, she needs to fight away from TV so she can improve her skills accordingly. In pre-match interviews, Kim came across as flippant and overconfident and Kerry outclassed her easily. And Kerry was much more humble in her interviews. What's next for Kerry? She is under contract to Strikeforce so I would not be surprised to see her against a grappler like Meisha Tate next. And they may bring someone in who is not under contract to face her. But I would like to see Kerry's ground skills. We already know she can punch. She's not ready for Sarah Kaufman.
