With new ownership and a new attitude, the Dec. 26 Korakuen Hall Smackgirl show titled Starting Over is already stacked with Yuka Tsuji, Megumi Fujii and many others appearing on the show. Smackgirl has added four more matches to the show that stacks it even more. The big news is one fight will feature two undefeated fighters including the hottest rising star in womens MMA right now. That is Emi Fujino. Fujino has been on a hot streak since recovering from a serious auto accident. Her record is 7-0 and her most recent victory was over Yuko at the Nov. 11 GCM Cage Force show. Her opponent is V1. She debuted in the 2007 Next Cinderella Tournament and won her division so she's 3-0.
Smackgirl has also announced a series of three matches called Discovery Fight. The matches are designed to discover new talent and will run before the main show. I guess they won't be televised. The first match is Kanako Takeshita vs BENKEI. Takeshita won the Middleweight class of the 2006 Next Cinderella Tournament. Her record is 4-0 but this is her first fight in over a year. BENKEI is 2-3 but her last fight was a win over HARUMI at the May 19 Smackgirl show. The second match is Yasuko Tamada vs Maho Muranami. Tamada is 5-4-2 but is on a three fight winning streak. Muranami is 4-4-1 but won the Flyweight class of the 2007 Next Cinderella Tournament. Tamada on a split decision over Muranami on the July 12, 2005 G-Shooto show. The third fight is Miki Morifuji vs HARI. Morifuji is 4-4 and HARI is 5-5.
